formerly piedmont payment services

The same benefits billing. Now with more behind it.

Velocity Benefits is proud to introduce Velocity Pays (formerly Piedmont Payment Services). If a group was previously placed with Piedmont, the billing and payment process stays the same. The same trusted processes now have more capabilities connected around them.

UNCHANGED — Personal support

The same team and support already trusted by Piedmont clients

UNCHANGED — Premium collection

The same payment options and process for collecting employee premiums

UNCHANGED — Carrier payments

The same process for reconciling bills and paying carriers

NEW — Connected capabilities

Velocity Admin, GroupLoop, and AI Agents work alongside the same billing and payment engine.

Decades of moving premium didn't get replaced. It got reinforcements.

two sentences that can kill a benefits sale

One problem. One solution.

"We don't have a deduction slot."

A benefits line can be too difficult to administer when an employer can't use payroll deduction. Employees still need a way to pay, but the employer doesn't want to manage individual premium payments. Velocity Pays collects premiums without payroll deduction.

"We're done dealing with the bill."

Every carrier can mean another bill, reconciliation, and due date. The employer can end up stuck managing premium collection and payments. Velocity Pays takes benefits billing off the employer's desk.

Heard either of these arguments lately? Let's talk.

not just the voluntary carve out

Velocity Pays started with worksite benefits where premium collection and billing can be especially difficult. Today, the same platform supports these key processes across the broader benefits program.

Different lines may use different payment methods such as employer remittance, payroll, split direct deposit, back draft, or card. They all feed the same platform, and every carrier gets paid from the same record.

how velocity pays works

Premiums are collected, but never by the employer.

There are three ways to collect premiums. The right option depends on how the group is paid. Regardless, the outcome is the same: Velocity Pays collects the premium and handles the billing and carrier payment process.
PREFERRED

Split direct deposit

The premium is automatically directed to a dedicated Velocity Pays account alongside the employee's regular paycheck.

The employer's job: Add the account to payroll once.
  • 01 Payroll runs, and the paycheck splits with most going to the employee's bank account while the premium goes to their Velocity Pays account.

  • 02 The premium account funds automatically each payday.

WHEN PAYROLL CAN'T HELP

Bank draft

The premium is collected directly from the employee's bank account. This removes the employer from the payment process.

The employer's job: No action needed.
  • 01 Velocity Pays drafts the employee's account each payday, not monthly.

  • 02 The premium is divided into amounts that fit the employee's pay schedule.

NO BANK DETAILS

Card on file

Employees can use a credit or debit card when bank draft or payroll-based options are not available.

The employer's job: No action needed.
  • 01 The employee places a card on file at their convenience.

  • 02 Velocity Pays charges the card on the employee's pay schedule and in manageable amounts.

the employer never sees a bill

Billing stops at Velocity Pays

No collecting, holding funds, reconciling, or chasing terms. However the premium is collected, Velocity Pays receives the carrier bill, reconciles it against the group's record, and pays the carrier.

Premiums are collected based on the group's payroll schedule, not a rigid monthly cadence.

carrier payments

Most coverage lapses are never about money.

Overlooked or delayed payments are often caused by administrative issues like busy months, staffing changes, and misplaced invoices. When an employer is responsible for collecting and sending premiums, payment moves at the speed of the person processing it.

Fewer payment delays Velocity Pays reconciles each carrier bill and pays it electronically on the day it's due.

Fewer coverage lapses Groups are less likely to experience coverage disruptions caused by missed payments when premiums reach the carrier on time.

Fewer billing disputes Carrier bills are reconciled against enrollment data to identify discrepancies before they cause payment problems.

Fewer member disruptions Members aren't caught between employers and carriers with billing and payments handled behind the scenes.

A family should never lose coverage because an invoice sat in a drawer.
